ELIGIBLITY
Student Legal Services is available only to qualifying Michigan State University students. A Michigan State University student will generally qualify for Student Legal Services if they are currently taking classes and have paid the student tax during the semester they request service (student taxes are taxes paid to ASMSU and COGS by students and are not part of tuition). There is no fee to use Student Legal Services as long as you meet these requirements.
Because Student Legal Services is funded by student tax dollars, we are required to limit our availability to Michigan State University students paying those taxes. Therefore, we cannot provide legal services to faculty, staff, administrators, parents, spouses, dependents, friends, or partners of eligible students. No campus organization, student business, student club or Registered Student Organization, fraternity, sorority, or other such entity may be advised or represented by Student Legal Services; but these organizations may use the speaking engagements and preventative law programs offered by Student Legal Services at no cost. The decision to provide legal advice or representation shall be at the sole discretion of the law firm of Jeffries and Associates, PLLC. |
