SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS,
PREVENTATIVE LAW PROGRAMS, & RESOURCE FAIRS

Preventive legal education is a major mission of Student Legal Services.  Each year our attorneys speak at educational forums in fraternities and sororities, residence halls, and, upon request, to Registered Student Organizations on campus.  Common themes include:

Know Your Rights – We cover subjects such as how to respond when the police stop you in the street or in your vehicle, or when they knock on your door.  We also review your rights surrounding police searches and seizures.

Landlord/Tenant – We cover issues such as choosing roommates, entering into a lease, subleasing, security deposits, evictions, local ordinances, and many more.

Power Of Attorney - We cover how to protect yourself and appoint a person of your choosing to make health and financial decisions if you become unable to due to illness or disability.
